I'm Owen.
I'm working on converting my experiences to the highest advantage of others. Currently, I view large scale education reform (specifically increasing agency and curiosity in young people) and space infrastructure (towards ensuring democratic and ethical commercialization of space resources) as the two best ways for me to be useful.
I currently live in Brooklyn with my wonderful girlfriend. I grew up in SF and am back from time to time.
If you're in New York, I'd be delighted to walk around the navy yard with you and talk about hard problems.

Online projects:
Projects in progress / in need of documentation:
- Tritium Calculator Watch
My calculator watch doesn't have a backlight, so I added very small vials of tritium gas lined with phosphor around the display
- The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Tinkering in Natural Learning
[Essay I've been compiling to consolidate my experiences and arguments on education reform, child development, learning, and teaching]
- Brooklyn Navy Yard Historical Society (BNYHS)
[R&D/coworking space in the brooklyn navy yard]
- Future Education Research Institute
[Can we build a cross between a PARPA, a Bell Labs-like research campus, and the K-12 -> 4yr university -> researcher track to help smooth the transition out of our current education system?]
- Tinkering School Mars Missions
Some of my friends and I made a telerobotics based summer camp (with the most accurate/immersive simulated Mars environment in the world), and we wrote a book about it
- Magnetic Implant
I have a magnetic implant in my left ring finger, which my brain has now adopted as an extra sense. In certain places, I can feel the subway through the sidewalk
- Tom Sachs Studio
I worked on bricolage/kitbashed robotics systems and sub-scale propulsion elements for indoor rocket launches after dropping out of NYU
- Camera repair
I've disassembled and reassembled my T2 about six times at this point, and have a lot of tricks that I haven't seen documented online. I'll make a guide at some point.
